Awais Rashid

Professor of Cyber Security – University of Bristol

Professor Rashid has extensive experience of leading large, multi-institutional and industry-academic partnerships. He has led multiple EU projects including a large European network of Excellence, multiple EPSRC grants and currently leads REPHRAIN, which involves over150 researchers across 25 UK universities and 23 founding non-academic partners. He also leads the EPSRC CDT on Trust, Identity, Privacy and Security at Scale (partnering with University of Bath and over 22 industry, government and international partners).

He co-led the security and safety theme in PETRAS 1, is a sector lead in PETRAS 2, on the executive team of the ESRC Hub+ Discribe. He heads the National Cyber Security Programme CyBOK project, with a college of 110 world-leading experts defining interdisciplinary foundations for cyber security (incl. privacy, online rights & law), interdisciplinary projects in national programmes: RISCS, RITICS, PETRAS and is advisor to two German national centres on security & privacy (CROSSING, ATHENE).He is a member of the EPSRC Digital Economy Programme Advisory Board and chairs the Scientific Advisory Board of RISCS: Research Institute for Sociotechnical Cyber Security.
